Welcome to Fifteen Minute Fling Friday!
Today I’m hittin’ the entrance. This is the area everyone sees and it has the most traffic – if I don’t keep up with it, it has the potential to get a little out of control. My family are “droppers” – enter a space and drop what’s in your hands to begin another activity, and we have a few “drop hot spots” in the house, including the floor of the entrance and the stairs. So I’m hoping to make life a little easier and organized for us in each room. Yes, this will take more than 15 minutes, and that’s ok 🙂 Here’s my plan:
- bring bench and coffee table upstairs – DONE
- throw all loose items from the entrance into a pile – DONE
- Sort items into KEEP, TOSS and DONATE
- toss the TOSS pile – DONE
- put DONATE bags aside – DONE
- put strollers into closet – DONE
- declutter jackets – DONE
- organize winter accessories – DONE
- organize all KEEP items
- vacuum
I’ve also decided that our entrance needs some rules so that the mess doesn’t keep reoccurring. So here’s what I’ve come up with:
- stairs are not for storage
- 1 pair of footwear per person
- one jacket per person
- Anyone ages 10+ puts jackets in closet
- Little kids hang items on Thomas hooks
This should hopefully reduce the clutter chaos we’ve been experiencing.
